 Thermodynamics and Nuclear FUSION

Just when I was trying to slow down at 90 and getting ready to stand at the bus stop and wait for 'Godot' 'along comes Mr Chris Wright in an interview on the BBC, telling the World how President Trump appointed him as the 'United Sates Secretary of ENERGY.'

This blog is really a congratulations Letter to Mr Wright and our common interest in Nuclear FUSION.

Dear Mr Wright

I am a product of the then, Graduate School of Thermodynamics  and Related Studies at the University of  Birmingham, England. An Iconic year 195 9!  .Out of it came an extraordinary diverse group of people, who contributed to  to our world of engineering in a ground breaking way.   My blog of 1916  www,thinktrue2008.blogspot.com  says it all, well maybe most of it.(1916-January Engineers and the Human Condition/.) Most of them have passed on and its a bit lonely with no one to discuss my thoughts on FUSION.

Way back in the early fifties there was  a Particle  accelerator in the physics department ,of Birmingham University, where my future mother in law worked as a very harp eyed lady examining photographic plates for what she called EVENTS. Computors now of course.

The European collider, was established and they have been wasting millions ever since, when the money should have been allocated to the French Project---- Fusion research.

I am ,but a Grain of Sand trying to get my ideas out, against the Winds off the Desert. You sir can be the Wind of change of thought, on the matter of FUSION Developement. A joint USA/ French  project would be a good way to go.

One of the problems appears to gettng the temperature up , high enough/for long enough to get the reaction stable. My thought has always been nuclear FISION. There may be work to be done on Neutron radiation. .

Change of subject : For my 9()th birthday I hoped to start up the Thermodynamics Institute. I wrote to Birmingham and Cambridge Universities for help--No reaction, maybe I should approach the Massachusetts Institute of Technology . I will try.

Please go for Fusion in our lifetime.

Yours Sincerely

All the best in your demanding new position-- It was a great interview, on BB, it certainly woke me up to times past and present.

Ah my particle of matter---- in memory of Primo Levi and Tutllio Reggie. Who actually agreed with me.

 a long time agoe.

Now where is that fello GODOT
