Australia Day 2011

The twentysixth day of January is Australia Day, a celibration of the official founding of Australia as a Nation and and member of the Brish Comonwealth -still.

We celibrate with community breakfasts and gatherings plus the awards of appreciation to local identities who have contributed well to their local community and they are much appreciated. Up the area scale to State and federal areas we have higher awards like the Order of Australia, OA,. The top award is The Australian of the Year.

I really do not know who makes this award, but this year is almost unbelieveable in my humble oppinion. The fello is or was a Banker, not only that he is was a Merchant Banker, more than that an investment Banker with all their high salaries bonuses and the like. Not only that he was or is with a ceratin Bank that as I recall the lead Bank a few years agoe , who with a group of Private Equity money companies and individuals edeavoured to take the national airline QANTAS, I did my little bit to stop the venture which died in the water due I feel also to the global financial crisis that was imerging. A strange choice ladies and genlte men, strange.

Ok if not this man who, easy , try this for size.

He is a broadcaster of excellence; he has never hurt anybody, physically or in the pocket; he is a man of honour and supports refugee advocates and founded with others a prominant voice for refugees,he knows and has interviewed many many promenent people on his abc program Late-Night-Live; his is a farmer with his partner, Olive and Beef cattle and by golly if you write to him, he does his best to respond. A good man is Mr Phillip Adams OA . My choice for Australian of the Year, maybe next uyear.

Nearly forgot, he is an antique collector with special interest in Egypt and must, like myself, wish the Egyption poeple all the best in their endeavours. The president did OK,but obviously the country ois ready for change and we all hope that the change that will certainly happen will be for the better. Good luck Egypt,I have visited a number of time since catching the last plane out, at the start of the six day war.

The problem of the explosion or whatever wt the Gas pipe was to Jordan and Isreal is not a good omen, lets us hope and pray that it was indeed an accident and doent attract the attention of the American Eagle-heavan forebid.

All the best for now.

Renaisance=continued

The moral of the story,is when typing near the bottom of the page, keep the arrow out of the way or you might just ouch the 'publish post, and its off and out.
OK, we were talking about the tracing of expolsives by the major manufacturers, the makers of products of mass destruction (excluding Nuclear in this discussion) plus I feel the main users these days and to me the USA, the United Kingdom of Great Briton with Isreal adding their name with Phosphurous showers.

A numer of years agoe I cintributed to the detection of explosives with discuss with a major manufacturer. My main thoughts for Nitro based was metal fragments for X ray detection and Nuetron radiograhy for Plastic explosives alrady used on the Aircgaft industry Stop,. Oh I came up with, for Nitro the idea of including female dog on heat ,essense,. Woow said the industry, by golly Mal, you would have howling dogs out side every quarry and military establishment in the country.Oh dear, that one was out.

The last word on violence for this blog is the suggestion that countries that release heavy ordinance and or light guns for that matter, please try to reconise that somewhere down in your psychie there is a deep down inherent perpencity for violence. Was it from past civil wars of your own simply you were violated and somehow return that violence almost unwittingly.

As I have said many times, the 'Suicide Bomber" not have the facilities of rockets; drones etc, has to get up close and personal and they do, propably using explosives manufacturered by the so called west, either from packaged or from unexploded ordinanc. Its all very sad and I wish the World would calm down and think on whwt we are doing to each other.

See you next time on a more cheery subject.

Renaisance.

In my blog Sept 09, my original full title was somehow not accaptable to a computor somewhere, as it contained the full Gan----- and Terr---- words. The Motor Industry bit was fine.
What to do - well in the end months later, it was decided to play a 'Boys Own' game with a play with words and worthy of a section in 'The Dangerous Book for Boys' for boy aged eight to eighty , you know the sort of thing , disapearing ink games etc.
We came up with - Motor Industry, Terro...ism and Guanta....namo Bay and by jingo was accepted and out went the blog March 20010. I had worked it all out, cleaver little me.

The Motor Industry section talked about the preferred vehicles and makes used by terrorists and naughty boys around the World and the manufactures can help , by tracing accuratly the path of each vehicle from factory, through shipping to distibutor or branch to the final owner for new and sometime used vehicles particularly armoured units. I know because I am ex motor industry manufacturing , so sent hard copies to a number of heads of state to checkm it out. What they did of course I knoe not.

I now update that to the subject of 'Explosives'. Lets start with a question. How many manufacturuers are ther of explosives both Nitro and Plastic?.Well we all know of Du Pont USA and ICI UK them ther will be Chinse , French , Germay at least plus the miriad of suppliers of fertaliser products for lesser powers.

It is clear that the explosives used in the main are high quality products made by top manufacturers and therefore should be subject to the same precedures of tracing as vehicles from the Motor industry. This would include both packaged and explosives in Ordinance and land mines - I wonder if there is a way of getting explosives out of Land Mines - tricky I would think.

When we talk of Explosives we talk of Violence
When we talk of violenc we must look at who releases violence at mass destruction levels or near. OK, if its not too boring and brain streching, put somes names or countries to the following

Violence is a Drone releasing its bomb onto and into objects that may or may not house inocent civilians, activated by a person many kilometres away.
Violence is 'Strategic Bombing' procedures of mass destruction of people and places.
Violence is chemical and biological attacks including Phospherous.
Violence is Land Mines randomly placed with no records of quantities or where.
Violence is targeting non-confirmed victims called Freindly Fire.

Christmas 2010

I have tried being in denial, but I just cannot get away from the feeling that 2010 is the year ,Christmas as we know it, ended. Here in my part of Australia, 260 kilometres south of Sydney is a micronism of the whole World experience as I see it.
Let me explain. It started for me , late November, with very little promotion by the major stores, who normaly get into gear as early as as late September. They ended up with little or no displays or celibration. The shopping centres were also pathetically devoid of decorstion or promotion in the traditional sense, even the Salvo's stayed at base and the group of so called Christian Curuches appear these days to operate like private clubs with majoriy paid up members.

I suppose the christmas celibration I am talking about is only eighty to one hundred years ols or is it a tad more with Dickens and " A Christmas Carol". i looked around and asked around enquiring as to the public appearance of Vicars; Pastors; Preists; Rabi's Salvos Captains and the like. I never saw one that I could identify and ceratinly not a visit or call from anybody of that nature. Woefully sad isn't it, onward I pressed for salvation.

Radio and Television, had given up almost altogether, very few Carols and Christmas programs, even on Christmas eve and Christmas day. The Australian National broadcaster failing abismaly. My vary local abc radio station shut down and we had some silly programs from Sydney, calling themselve, local radio, what a cheek.

As a family we did our best , christmas tree, excellent dinners with carols of yesteryear, half our family for christmas and half in the new year of 2011, when we will do it all over again in a different sort of way I suppose, more spiritual these days with quiet contemplation and thoughts for those we love. That terrible word - Hoever - I just cannot deny, that in my opinion and inner feeling, Christmas as we have come to know it has ended in the year of 2010, Amen

The mnew era is upon us and one that can of course be joyous, a time when we all can cellibrate the ending of the year and the coming of the new. We must all take the opportunity to embrace all Australians and our extended family of friends around the World ---Christians; Hindu; Budist; Muslim; Jew et al --- By name let it continue for a while. Natural integration and community spirit will do the rest.

All the best for 2011 and out and plases let Pease be with us all.

Malcolm E Mason . Australia Christmas 2010.
